ATPL CLASSIC EXAM 2.0.1
UNOFFICIAL PROJECT
ATPL Classic Exam is an independent interface enhancement for ATPLQuestions. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or produced by ATPLQuestions.

INSTALL IN CHROME
1. Extract the ZIP. Keep the ATPL-Classic-Exam folder somewhere permanent.
2. Open chrome://extensions and enable Developer mode.
3. Click Load unpacked and select the ATPL-Classic-Exam folder containing manifest.json.
4. Refresh the quiz tab after loading or updating the extension.

USING THE EXTENSION
- The layout activates when ATPLQuestions displays its native quiz page. Other pages keep their original layout.
- The title shows the current subject from the site and follows subject changes.
- Flag question toggles ATPLQuestions' own For Review flag. A filled flag means the native control is active. Click Flagged to remove it.
- Green, yellow and red controls operate the site's colour flags.
- Question numbers remain the original clickable links. Review markers and answer states follow the site.
- The site's page controls remain available when it only renders part of a question bank, such as 100 of 300 questions.
- Back and Next page activate the site's original navigation. Next page is a small plain exam-style button with no arrow. When every question has an answer, the button becomes Submit quiz; on the last question with unanswered items, it shows Finish test.
- The timer displays exactly the value provided by ATPLQuestions. No independent countdown is created. When the site does not identify the timer as time remaining, it is labelled Time.
- Pin question is directly under the Flagged/Flag question control. The three-dot menu contains Save test, Finish test, Full screen, Do not show this question, and Keyboard shortcuts. Site confirmation dialogs remain in control.
- Question tools reveals the original Explanation, Note, Exam Question, Comments, Similar Questions and Flight Computer controls when available.
- The toolbar popup can switch off the layout, restore the website header, or turn inline short statement lists on/off. Changes apply to open quizzes.
- Long numbered statements stay on separate lines. Short numbered statements can appear inline side by side without list-style spacing.
- The exam layout is styled closer to the real examination screen: plain header, left-side boxed question information, lighter blue question area, red timer outline, blue Flag question action, and a smaller grey Back button. The left info panel is reduced in width, the Question label is larger, the overall layout is nudged to the centre, and the Question Navigator keeps up to 6 tiles per row and uses its own compact custom scrollbar clear of the question tiles. Dark mode also keeps the current question tile readable with brighter selected colours. "Marked out of 1.00" remains removed, and the Next page/Submit quiz control follows the actual height of the question instead of being pushed down by a fixed question-row height.
- Light/dark colours follow the website theme. The layout adapts to narrow screens.

CHECKS AND LIMITS
The extension was tested against the supplied page HTML in Chromium, including navigation/answer/review event forwarding, state updates, native pagination, layout removal, theme changes and replacement of the Angular quiz DOM. Site actions were simulated locally; authenticated server persistence has not been verified. The available headless browser could not load unpacked extensions, so the actual Chrome installation must be checked in your browser.

The original question, answer and navigation elements are never cloned or moved. Disabling Classic layout removes the added interface and restores the original attributes. This extension does not send network requests or maintain a separate database of answers or review flags. Its only requested API permission is storage for its three display preferences; content access is limited to app.atplquestions.com.

1.0.7 update: the question prompt and answer text are reduced, while the question number is visually emphasized larger to match the reference screenshot more closely.

1.0.8 update: the left question-info panel no longer stretches to the full question-row height; it stays as a compact boxed panel. The Question label and number are rendered separately so the number can appear much larger, matching the reference layout more closely.

1.0.9 update: when a question is flagged/reviewed, the Flagged text and flag icon turn red in both light and dark mode.

1.0.10 update: the light-blue question panel now uses the natural height of the visible question and answers instead of stretching vertically. The Next page / Submit quiz area follows immediately below the real question height.

1.0.11 update: native ATPLQuestions controls that use javascript: links are activated without navigating to the JavaScript URL, preventing Chrome Content Security Policy errors while preserving the site's Angular click listeners.

1.0.12 update: the default layout scale is increased to 105%. The extension popup now includes a Layout scale control with minus/plus buttons from 85% to 120% in 5% steps. The percentage button resets the layout to 100%. Scale changes are saved and apply immediately to open quiz pages.

1.0.13 update: Back is slightly shorter with black text in light mode, the control separator line is removed, the question and question-info panels sit closer to the controls, and the Question label is slightly larger while the question number is slightly smaller.

1.0.14 update: light-mode Back button now uses a pale grey background with black text. The controls-to-question gap is reduced again so the question information box and question panel sit slightly higher.

1.0.15 update: removed the filled square background from the three-dot menu trigger. The ellipsis is now a clean transparent icon in both light and dark mode, with only a text-colour hover change.

1.0.16 update: removed the conflicting-style warning from the popup, restored a visible custom scrollbar inside Question Navigator without overlapping the sixth tile column, and hid the browser/page scrollbar on the far right while preserving page scrolling.

1.0.17 update: Question Navigator remains scrollable but its scrollbar is hidden again. In reviewed questions, correct answer text follows the green result colour and incorrect answer text follows the red result colour; an ungraded selected answer remains blue.

1.0.21 update (rebased on v1.0.17): Question tools remain collapsed by default. When enabled, the Question / Explanation / Note / Exam Question / Comments / other native tool tabs are mirrored into a compact strip in the same row as Back and Time, while the original ATPLQuestions controls remain the actual controls being activated. Comments are styled more compactly and get a Sort comments control with Most liked, Newest and Oldest. Most liked is the default on first use; the user's last choice is saved in extension storage and restored.

1.0.22 update: removed the duplicate custom comment-sort dropdown. The extension now uses the website's own Most Recent / Most Liked / Replied by ATPLQuestions / Oldest selector, defaults to Most Liked, and remembers the last native filter chosen by the user. Long Explanation, Note, Exam Question, Comments and other tool panes now scroll inside their own section without moving the full page.

1.0.23 update:
- Restores the stronger Classic navigator state colours: green #18AD18 for correct and red #E23838 for incorrect, with white numbers.
- The Question Navigator is compressed to fit up to 100 question boxes without an internal scrollbar while retaining 6 columns.
- Explanation, Note, Exam Question, Comments and other tool content now scroll inside the tool content area rather than moving the whole page.
- Changing question while a tool such as Comments is active resets the tool state to Question so the old active tab does not carry over.

1.0.24 update: the 100-question navigator keeps six columns but uses wider, shorter tiles so the panel is substantially less tall. Classic bright red/green result colors remain the default; a new Cool navigator colors setting switches to a softer palette. Long Explanation, Note, Exam Question and Comments panes now scroll directly inside the active pane rather than the whole page. Changing question forces the tools back to Question and retries briefly if ATPLQuestions updates the native tab state asynchronously, preventing Comments from remaining highlighted.

1.0.25 update: Comments, Explanation, Note and Exam Question now use the exact active native pane as a fixed-height internal scroll area. Removed the wheel interception that could block scrolling on the live site.

1.0.26 update: Comments, Explanation, Note and Exam Question now scroll on the stable question-card container itself. The available tool height is calculated from the live viewport, while inner ATPLQuestions panes are allowed to expand naturally to avoid nested-scroll failures.

1.0.27 update: changing question while Comments/Explanation/etc. is open now force-resets both the native and custom tool state to Question for a short DOM-settling window, clears stale scroll sizing, and prevents Question and Comments from appearing active at the same time.

1.0.28 update: Explanation is more compact. Explanation and Comments now show an in-section Text size control with − / + buttons. Each section remembers its own font size (11–20 px) across sessions.

1.0.29 update: question images now show a magnifier control at the bottom-right on hover. Clicking it opens the original image in an in-page lightbox; click the backdrop, the close button, or press Escape to close it.

1.0.30 update: fixed Explanation/Comments text-size toolbar overlapping images/content. The toolbar is now part of normal section flow instead of floating over content, and switching tool tabs resets the tool scroll position to the top.

1.0.31 update: question-image lightbox now prefers the original ATPLQuestions /image/viewer URL linked to the thumbnail and displays that full-size viewer at nearly full viewport width/height. Thumbnail source is only used as a fallback when no viewer link exists.

1.0.32 update: restored the older Question Navigator sizing and spacing from before the 100-question compact redesign. It is again a 6-column scrollable panel with larger tiles and hidden internal scrollbar, while preserving newer features and the optional color setting.

1.0.34: Restores the v1.0.32 feature set and old navigator. Question tools open by default. The real ATPLQuestions nav-tabs element is moved into the Back/Time row without moving its parent content container, preserving native comments/explanation content. Most Liked remains the default remembered native comment sort, Explanation/Comments text-size controls remain available, tool sections scroll internally and hand off scrolling to the page at their edges, and question/explanation images share the smaller non-overlapping lightbox.

1.0.35: Removed the native active-tab shadow from the relocated ATPLQuestions toolbar and matched every toolbar tab to the 34px Back button height.

1.0.36 update: Explanation now scrolls with the whole page instead of an internal viewport. Reducing Explanation text size also shrinks explanation images proportionally. Only the magnifier opens the in-page lightbox; clicking an image itself is left to ATPLQuestions native behavior (including opening its viewer/new tab). Cool navigator colors remain disabled by default.

1.0.37 update: answers now use the browser's native radio control. Only the radio circle selects an answer; clicking the answer letter or text no longer selects the row. Keyboard selection continues to work through the focused native radio.

1.0.38 update:
- Added full Exam-page compatibility for the supplied app-exam layout, including its .spanTimer and Cancel Exam / Finish Exam controls.
- Answers can be selected by clicking either the native radio circle or the visible answer text. Empty row space and the answer letter remain inert. A compact hover treatment shows the clickable target without highlighting the whole row.
- Explanation never uses an internal scroll viewport; it expands naturally and the whole page scrolls.

v1.0.39
- Fixed the Exam page navigator column being hidden by ATPLQuestions' mt-mobile-tablet class.
- Exam now shows the same classic Question Navigator as Study while native exam action rows remain hidden.

1.0.40 update: answer radios keep the native browser appearance, use a circular hover/focus halo instead of a square box, and use a dark-blue active/selected state. Answer-text hover remains limited to the actual clickable text area.

v1.0.41
- Real ATPLQuestions active Question/Explanation/Note/Exam Question/Comments tab now uses dark blue in light mode.
- Removed the rectangular hover/focus patch around the native answer radio; the radio stays browser-native.
- The small answer-text hover overlay remains the click-target indicator.

v1.0.42
- Re-applies native ATPLQuestions toolbar dark-theme styling after the toolbar is moved into the Back/Time row.
- Active tool uses a dark navy background with blue text in dark mode instead of ATPLQuestions orange/brown.
- Similar Questions / Flight Computer utility buttons now use dark surfaces, borders and icon colors in dark mode.

v1.0.43
- Explanation no longer owns any vertical scrollbar; its content expands the document and the whole page scrolls.
- Removed the explanation viewport-height constraint in JavaScript as well as CSS.

v1.0.44
- Native Question/Explanation/Note/Exam Question/Comments hover and active-hover states no longer fall back to ATPLQuestions orange styling.
- Light theme uses a subtle blue hover; dark theme uses navy with blue text.
- Answer-text hover background is reduced to a much lighter blue tint.

v1.0.45
- Makes the Exam Question tool substantially more compact.
- Replaces the native orange/yellow report accents, dividers and view-count pills with the extension blue palette.
- Keeps dark-theme colors adaptive while reducing country/source card height and spacing.

v1.0.46
- Exam Question no longer has an internal scrollbar; the whole page scrolls.
- Exam Question warning/orange accents are forced to the extension blue palette.
- Country/source rows are flatter, borderless, shorter, and have smaller gaps.
- View-count pills are smaller and blue.

v1.0.47
- Keeps Exam Question eye/view counters pinned to the far right of each country/source row.
- Removes hover/focus shadows, glows and raised effects from Exam Question rows and view counters.

v1.0.48
- Restored the previous Exam Question card layout instead of the flattened list.
- Made the Exam Question UI denser/smaller for a more zoomed-out look.
- Kept whole-page scrolling, blue accents, and flat no-glow hover behavior.

v1.0.49
- Fully disables nested/viewport scrolling in Exam Question; the document/page is the only vertical scroll surface.
- Detects ATPLQuestions' live scroll wrapper even when its internal component structure changes.
- Removes the remaining beige/orange layers from Exam Question view counters and keeps them in the blue palette.
- Keeps Exam Question cards flat with no hover shadow/glow.

v1.0.50
- Fixes the previous build's accidentally escaped CSS newlines, which prevented the final Exam Question overrides from being parsed.
- Forces Exam Question into normal document flow with no internal scrollbar; only the whole ATPLQuestions page scrolls.
- Removes the remaining beige/orange native layers from Exam Question counters/borders and keeps the blue palette.
- Keeps the restored compact card layout and flat no-glow styling.

v1.0.51
- Fixes Exam Question view counters in dark mode so the native yellow/orange inner pill is fully removed.
- Uses a dark navy counter with light-blue eye/count text and removes pseudo-element/native warning backgrounds, shadows and glows.

v1.0.52
- Fixed the remaining yellow/orange Exam Question view-count fill in dark mode by replacing ATPLQuestions' nested inline !important warning badge styles at runtime.
- View-count badges now stay dark navy with blue icon/text in dark mode and retain the blue light-theme palette.

v1.0.53
- Reverted all Exam Question colours to ATPLQuestions' native light/dark theme colours.
- Kept the compact/zoomed-out Exam Question spacing and card sizing.
- Kept Exam Question in normal page flow with no internal scrolling.
- Kept hover shadows/glows disabled without overriding native colours.

v1.0.54
- Removed the obsolete Exam Question warm-color code path completely.
- Fixes ReferenceError: Cannot access 'warm' before initialization from older v1.0.52 content script.

v1.0.55
- Added an Eye saver (light theme) strength slider to extension settings (0-100%).
- Eye saver only affects ATPLQuestions light theme and updates open quizzes immediately.
- Maximum strength is intentionally strong: warm tint + reduced brightness + sepia filtering for long study sessions.

1.0.56 update:
- Reworked Eye saver so it adapts more naturally in light theme instead of covering the entire interface with a heavy amber/yellow wash.
- Low and medium slider values are gentler; high values progressively dim the display while preserving the original UI colours much better.
- 100% remains intentionally strong, using brightness reduction plus a softer warm-paper tint rather than extreme sepia/saturation.

v1.0.57
- Increased the corner radius of Back and Next page slightly.
- Made the Next page button a little smaller.
- Increased the main question/answer panel font size slightly for readability.

v1.0.58
- Reduced the extra vertical gap between the question text and the answer choices.

v1.0.59
- Redesigned Question Navigator to fit a full 100-question page as a clean 10 x 10 grid.
- Removed internal navigator scrolling for 100-question pages.
- Widened the desktop navigator slightly while keeping the tiles compact and readable.

v1.0.70
- Fixed Question tools not resetting to Question after changing question from Comments/Explanation.
- Synthetic clicks used by the extension no longer cancel the navigation reset.
- Extended the short ATPLQuestions DOM settling window so delayed Angular rerenders cannot restore the previous active tool.

v1.0.70: The image magnifier now opens a right-side split view with Fit, zoom out/in, and close controls while the quiz remains usable on the left.

v1.0.70: Split-view magnifier now expands the image to the available panel and upgrades to the largest/original ATPLQuestions image source when available.

v1.0.70: Magnifier split view now uses ATPLQuestions' exact /image/download?image=... source from the native #imgViewer when available.

v1.0.70: Replaced the image magnifier icon with the split-view icon and removed the split-view image-area background/frame.

v1.0.72
- Replaced the Similar Questions icon with the supplied overlapping-circles SVG and fixed its dark-theme rendering.

v1.0.72: Fixed Comments wheel scrolling. The extension now respects the actual nested comments scroll container and only hands scrolling to the page when the comments viewport reaches its top or bottom.

v1.0.89: Cool navigator colors are now enabled by default. Existing installs are migrated once, while the setting can still be turned off afterward.

v1.0.89
- Comments now use only the main page scrollbar (no internal comment viewport scrolling).
- Comment cards use square corners and a more opaque solid surface.

v1.0.89: Enabled normal text selection, copy, cut and paste in ATPLQuestions study/exam content.

v1.0.89: cleaned up Comments UI (no text-size toolbar, no bright comment-card border), added a custom native-backed comment sort dropdown, and fixed the supplied Similar Questions SVG in dark mode.

1.0.80 update: Unanswered navigator tiles are quieter, the Comments sorter is square/borderless, stale empty comment controls are removed, and text-size controls are now a vertical floating Bootstrap-icon bar on the right side.

v1.0.89
- Slightly increased Question Tools tab font size.
- Set floating text-size defaults to 17px for Question, Explanation and Comments, preserving manually customized values on upgrade.

v2.0.13 update:
- Renamed the extension to ATPL Classic Exam across the manifest, popup and package branding.
- Added an explicit unofficial/non-affiliation notice for clearer Chrome Web Store presentation.

v2.0.13
- Reorganized popup into Interface, Display, and About sections.
- Show website header now defaults ON.
- Cool navigator colors now defaults OFF.
- Layout scale moved into Interface.
- Eye saver is disabled and visibly unavailable when ATPLQuestions is using dark theme, with a light-theme requirement note.

v2.0.13
- Fixed Comments split-view opening: native ATPLQuestions Comments activation now runs first so lazy-loaded comments can be moved into the split panel.

v2.0.13
- Fixed Comments split-view activation by binding directly to the live native Comments tab and mounting the split panel at the document body level.

v2.0.13
- Fixed Comments split view by allowing the site trusted Comments click to run first, then moving the native pane after activation.

v2.0.13
- Comments split view now waits for ATPLQuestions to finish lazy-loading the real Comments content before moving it, and uses definitive body-level split-panel styling.

v2.0.13
- Prevented the native Comments pane from flashing in the centre during split-view hand-off.

v2.0.13
- Rebuilt Comments split view: the native ATPLQuestions Comments pane itself is pinned to the right side, so Angular/comments functionality stays native and Question remains visible.

v2.0.13
- Made the Comments side view narrower/denser and restored reliable independent scrolling inside the side pane.

v2.0.13
- Comments are docked into a body-level side panel with a dedicated scroll viewport, fixing scrolling under the scaled quiz layout.

v2.0.13
- Comments dock now overlays the right side without reserving page width, so opening Comments no longer changes the Question panel size or quiz layout.

v2.0.13
- Fixed Comments overlay stretching full-screen. The dock is now hard-capped at 440px and the v2.0.11 geometry reset no longer targets the dock itself.

v2.0.13
- Fixed Comments layout: on wide screens the 440px dock gets its own reserved right-side space while the original quiz grid stays 1234px. The Question panel height is snapshotted before Comments opens and restored on close, so it cannot grow vertically.

v2.0.14
- Restyled the docked comment composer in dark mode: textarea is now borderless and square with softer white transparency, and the submit button matches the panel style better.

v2.0.23
- Clean rebuild from v2.0.14.
- Next page: border-radius 8px; margin-top 15px.
- Back: border-radius 8px.
- Whole answer row is clickable.
- Text-size +/− control returned to the right edge with deliberately low z-index so panels/controls cover it.

v2.0.25
- Based exactly on v2.0.23. Only change: moved the Question Navigator 20px upward on desktop.

v2.0.26
- Question info panel now always shows 'Flag this question' first, with 'Pin question' directly underneath it.

v2.0.27
- Kept Flag first and Pin directly underneath. Restored dynamic labels: Flag this question -> Flagged, and Pin question -> Pinned when active.

v2.0.28
- Restored reliable whole-row answer clicking by forwarding every answer-row click to the native ATPLQuestions answer control.
- Added a Comments side panel toggle in extension settings (enabled by default). Turn it off to use ATPLQuestions' normal Comments tab view.

v2.0.29
- Reorganized popup settings into Interface, Answers & Navigation, Comments, and Display categories.
- Inline short statement lists now shows '(HCAA style)'.
- Added a functional Whole answer row clickable setting, ON by default.
- Renamed inactive 'Flag this question' to 'Flag question'; active state remains 'Flagged'.
- Question Navigator remains in its existing horizontal column and is centered vertically.

v2.0.30
- Fixed vertical centering of the Question Navigator: it stays in the same horizontal column but no longer gets pushed partly above the viewport.

v2.0.31
- Moved the Question Navigator 20px upward without changing its horizontal position or any other layout.

v2.0.32
- Comments text size now defaults to 15px. Existing installs using the previous untouched 17px default are migrated to 15px once.

v2.0.33
- Added margin-top: -60px !important to the Question Navigator on desktop.

v2.0.34
- Removed the Tip card from the extension settings popup.

v2.0.35
- Comments side panel is ON by default, including a one-time upgrade migration for existing installs.
- Answer radio circle, answer letter and answer text are vertically aligned on the same row.

Backup & Recovery
- Automatic compressed recovery copy stored locally with ATPLQuestions site data.
- Restores extension settings, bookmarks, paper notes and other saved extension data after reinstall on the same browser profile.
- Manual JSON export/import is available as an additional backup.
- No external backup server is used.
